For us, missions starts here first. Everyday we are given the opportunity as individuals to be on mission in our home, community and at work. In addition, we collectively as a church reach out locally through our Sunday morning worship services, Youth Ministry (Rooted), Children’s ministry (JAM) and through various outreach events throughout the year. Also, we help our community through the We Care Project(see below).
One area that has captured our heart is the Appalachian region. Virginia, located in the Appalachian chain, is a selected location where we feel the call of God to address the needs of the poor, the disadvantaged and the hurting. Two to three times a year we send mission teams to visit, do home repair, build wheelchair ramps, offer folks support through love and encouragement. What a privilege it is to share Christ’s love with the wonderful people of the Appalachian region.
Starting in 2004, we have witnessed a miracle in our Latin America missions effort. We have watched God impact the people of Nicaragua, Central America, in a huge way. NorthBrook felt the call to a village called "Santa Lucia" in Chilimatillo where, since our beginning, we have built a Church, class rooms for reading programs, a parsonage for our local pastor and family, and a community playground. We are grateful to Pastor Alberto Pavon, and family for their hard work among the villagers. The Lord also invited us to join in a work in a small village in Malacatoya, an extremely poor village surrounded by rice fields and dirt roads. Already we have been privileged to see a church, parsonage and feeding center constructed.
The NorthBrook Missions is working in Guatemala in partnership with and alongside HOPE4GUATEMALA (Click below for more information) led by Roger and Anabela Green. Our team serves in sharing the Gospel, clothing distributions, feedings, food distribution, construction, sponsoring teachers and children’s ministry. We continue to look forward with great anticipation to being a part of all the Lord is doing.
